Communion
at Cottonwood Community Church |
Jesus
instituted Communion (The Lord’s Supper, The Breaking of Bread)
so that His followers would have a venue to remember His sacrifice
on the cross for our sins which secured our salvation. This simple
meeting, carried on through the centuries since Jesus died and rose
again, holds poignant meaning for all those who have placed their
trust in Christ.
Cottonwood Community Church typically celebrates communion on the
fourth Sunday of each month at 7:00 in the evening at our church home (308 S. 5th St.).
All those who have confessed faith in Jesus Christ
as Lord and Savior are welcome to participate and partake of the
break and juice, which symbolize the body and blood of our Lord.
We do this until He comes again!
For I received from the Lord that
which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night
in which He was betrayed took break; and when He had given thanks,
He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is
broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same
manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup
is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink
it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread
and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He
comes.
