Every Christian is responsible
for his/her own spiritual growth. While it is the duty of Cottonwood’s
leaders to provide opportunities for worship, instruction, ministry,
and fellowship – ultimately, spiritual maturity will depend
on individual obedience to the Lord and the Word of God.
Daily prayer and Bible reading is essential to everyone. Venues
for developing friendships, accountability, and ministry will be
found in Home Groups and Ministry Teams. We encourage each member
to be a part of a Home, Discipleship, or Ministry Group – for it is on the small group level that most needs are met.
The Book of Proverbs tells us that
“he who waters will also
be watered himself” (11:24) and we therefore encourage you
to seek an opportunity to serve in Cottonwood. You, because of your
gifts, interests, and background, are specially equipped to serve
in a unique capacity that will bless others – and, therefore,
yourself!
Opportunities are nearly endless with existing ministries. We can
always use Bible Study leaders, Home Group leaders, Sunday School
and Children’s Church teachers, as well as volunteers in music,
drama, technical production, printing, facility upkeep – along
with a vast, untapped list of other opportunities waiting for you!
Jesus Christ has commanded us to do what we can to care for widows
and orphans, to feed the hungry, clothe the poor, and welcome visitors
as well as visit the sick and those in jail.
